Zucchini, Ham, and Cheese Quinoa Cups

When we first had the idea to make quinoa breakfast cups, we thought they’d taste really good, but, we were wrong. They taste amazing. This grab-and-go, savory breakfast has just the right amount of ham and sharp cheddar cheese to be packed with flavor but stay low in calories. They are fantastic for meal prep and they reheat well in a microwave or toaster oven. Tip: For meatier chunks of ham, we asked our grocer to cut a single thick slice of deli ham, which we cut into cubes. Any good quality sliced ham or Canadian bacon will work. Lime Ginger Fizz

Fans of Moscow Mules will love this tart, bubbly Lime Ginger Fizz: Instead of vodka, this drink gets its kick from prosecco, an Italian sparkling wine that’s lighter and sweeter than its French cousin, champagne. This simple, bright cocktail has only three ingredients: honey-ginger simple syrup, prosecco, and lime juice. It’s a light, slightly sweet and tart drink that’s perfect for any party or special celebration — no heavy ingredients or overpowering flavors. You can buy flavored simple syrups at the store, but they’re so easy to make at home and since you control the ingredients, you know exactly what’s going in your syrup. To make honey-ginger simple syrup at home, all you need is honey

Red Wine Ginger Berry Cocktail

This gorgeous cocktail is a flavor showstopper: fruity red wine, pomegranate juice, citrus-flavored vodka, blackberry liqueur, honey-ginger syrup, and… (drumroll, please)… mixed berry ice cubes. Boom — holiday spirit in a glass. It may look too pretty to drink, but you really should; the vodka cuts the sweetness of the wine, syrup, and liqueur just enough so that you can really savor all the flavors. You can make the honey-ginger simple syrup and the mixed-berry ice cubes a couple of days ahead, so when the festivities start, all you have to do is pour and enjoy. You can buy flavored simple syrups or make your own: All you need to do is boil down water, honey, and ginger and voila — homemade

Fruit Champagne Punch

Nothing says “it’s a party!” like a bottle of fizzy, bubbly champagne. But if you want to kick things up a notch at your next soiree, try this Fruity Champagne Punch. Obviously, champagne is amazing on its own, but there’s no end to the number of refreshing and brightly flavored cocktails you can make with it. With the approaching holiday party season in mind, this fruity punch is a lighter alternative to typical drinks like egg nog and other creamy drinks. Cointreau is a beautiful orange liqueur that provides a burst of summery zing, and when you combine it with orange and pineapple slices, it’ll make you (almost) forget it’s winter. And don’t feel limited to pineapples and oranges: You can

Holiday Cranberry Fizz

Cranberries are a truly multi-tasking fruit: You can use them for homemade cranberry sauce, cookies, crumble bars, festive and edible wreaths, and of course, gorgeous holiday cocktails for your next party. This Holiday Cranberry Fizz has unexpected ingredients like black tea, pomegranate molasses (yum!), honey cranberry rosemary simple syrup (what?!), and orange bitters. With incredible flavors like this, who needs alcohol? Simple syrups are, well, simple to make, but you can always buy them pre-made. Pomegranate molasses is available at specialty food stores, online, or you can make your own — it’s essentially pomegranate juice reduced with sugar and lemon juice. Ingredients Ice 4 cups stro

7 Steps to Keep Your New Year's Resolution

Are you going to reinvent yourself in 2017? Or at least use the new year as a long overdue excuse to get rid of bad habits...or pick up new ones? Below are 7 steps to ensure that you STICK to your 2017 New Year's Resolutions. 1. Plan ahead. NOW is the time to start thinking about the changes you'd like to make in your life in 2017. Don’t make your resolution on New Year’s Eve or on January 1st. If you wait until the last minute, it will be based on your mindset that particular day. Instead, it start planning well before December 31st arrives. 2. Create a vision board with your goals (and be realistic). Visualizing your goals is an important part in helping reach them. Creating a dream or vis

Take the Fitness Challenge you think you might be ready for a Fitness Challenge Group? … a super fun experience that isn’t full of empty promises? … a place where we actually CARE that you get the results you want? I’m looking for a CERTAIN kind of girl. I’m looking for the woman who wants to lose 10-25lbs. Is that you? Do you have some friends that also want to lean out and drop 10? Why 10-25lbs? Because that’s where I was when I started my healthy journey…I was unmotivated, lazy, and tired of trying (and quitting) fad diets. I just plain fell OFF the wagon. I was VERY doubtful that a HOME workout program would make me lose pounds and inches that had crept up on me in my 20's. I was doubtful that the stubbor

Cranberry Crumble Bars

Thankfully, this cranberry crumble bars recipe is a healthier take on these mouthwatering treats. The base is made from oats* and raw almonds, which are processed into a fine meal with coconut sugar, and coconut oil replaces butter. The result is a much more wholesome pastry crust, that tastes truly indulgent. The filling is made from chopped cranberries and orange, which is a match made in heaven. A sprinkling of coconut sugar takes the mixture from fairly tart to just right. A word of warning: cranberries (and their juice) are quite potent, so can stain quite easily if you’re not careful. I suggest wearing an apron and making sure you wash your hands and cutting board right after use. As l
