No Booze February: Week 4

Well, it happened. The whole month of February without a drip of alcohol. And surprisingly, I made it out alive without any slip ups.

I will admit, I haven't been as social this final week in February as I was in January. I didn't "go out" this past weekend and instead opted for nights in on the couch. On the plus side though, I've saved money on the weekends and been a heck of a lot more productive.

If this is the first that you've heard about my No Booze Challenge, check out my Week 1, Week 2 and Week 3 recaps as well.

Give Up Alcohol for a month - Lipstick And Lunges

I can see and feel a difference in my body from taking a detox from alcohol. During this month I completed a program called the 21 Day Fix Extreme, which focused on nutrition and 30 minute workouts. Overall within the 21 days, I lost over 11 inches from my body and toned up my midsection.

I took some photos so you could see the difference in my body after removing alcohol from my diet for the past 28 days. I still continued to exercise 6-7x per week. My nutrition was pretty similar, minus the alcohol.

My skin feels more hydrated. My face is a LOT less bloated, as are my hands and feet. I have vivid memories of waking up on February first feeling ROUND and full when I looked in the mirror.

Community and Support is where it's at

I cannot begin tell you how HELPFUL it is to have a support system by your side when making a change like that. I was a part of a private Facebook group with 70+ individuals that were all going booze-free in February.

This group was a place to turn when I had temptation, or needed reassurance. It was definitely helpful knowing that other people were going through the same things that I was - and that I could help THEM as well.

I'd highly recommend if you decided to do a challenge like this, to find a support group or group of friends to keep you accountable.

What's Next?

I know what you are thinking right now....are you sipping a Margarita while reading this?! Surprisingly, I'm not.

I'm not saying that I'll never drink again. I like the idea of having the option to have a cocktail or two when I want.

But after seeing my body start to transform in just one month without alcohol...I'm really liking the results. I was still able to go out on the weekends and have fun. I saved money that I was normally spending at the bars on the weekends.

So for now, the sobriety continues!
