How I found my perfect dress | Wedding dress for pear shaped body (photos inside)
Most women dream of the day they will walk down the aisle and say "I do" to the man they will marry. It's all about THE DRESS and today I'm blogging about how I was able to find a wedding dress for my pear shaped body.
I found my dream wedding dress, thanks to David's Bridal. I needed to get a dress in 5 weeks, so it was the perfect place to order where I didn't need to worry about long lead times.
I am 33 years old, 5'10", around 155-160 lbs and have a pear shaped body. I have a smaller bust, tiny waist and then flare out at the hips and butt (think Kardashian but without the boobs, haha). I'm a girl with HIPS and I wanted to be conscious of this when picking out my wedding dress.
I used to work for David's Bridal Corporate HQ, so I was pretty familiar with their assortment and the featured designers and what those dress types were like. I always thought I would want to wear something form-fitting, because I like my curves. So I went on their website and favorited some of my favorite styles before my appointment. My Stylist was sure to pull those styles for me and once we met she also pulled more she thought I would like based off of personality and body shape.
Because my mom lives in Pennsylvania and sister lives in Wyoming, I went to this appointment alone. I had the stylist take photos for me and I FaceTimed my Mom to share with her how everything looked.
So let's get into it, here are the wedding dresses that I tried on for my pear shaped body. I tried some A-line, mermaid style, halter tops. It was a lot of fun to try on different styles and cuts.
But the winner was....
White by Vera Wang.
I got married on December 14, 2018, in VW351346 White By Vera Wang. The Y neckline was unlike anything else that I had seen online or from weddings that I attended in the past.
I absolutely LOVED how this dress fit me and I am excited to wear it two more times during my Spring receptions!
