Our second wedding ceremony in Costa Rica | La Fortuna Waterfall Wedding
To have & to hold. When we got engaged back in September 2018 we started to plan a destination wedding. As we were going through the process, it proved to be a lot to coordinate with families and work schedules. We wanted to elope, but didn't want to upset our parents by not having them present when we said "I do." So that is how we came up with the idea to have 2 ceremonies. One in McKinney in December with our parents, and one for just us in Costa Rica in January. Our second ceremony was absolute perfection on January 18, 2019, as we said our vows to each other (again) in front of the La Fortuna Waterfall in Costa Rica.

Our second ceremony took place in La Fortuna, in Costa Rica. We planned our honeymoon in January 2019 and planned to have our ceremony on the first leg of the trip.
Jordan planned our entire honeymoon and scouted out where we would have our ceremony. Our plans were pretty fluid (our original photographer had to cancel the day before we flew out) but everything turned out perfectly. We hired a photographer and videographer, and said our own vows to one another.
We were staying at the Baldi Hotel (100% recommend it!), which is a short drive to the La Fortuna Waterfall. Jordan found our photographer on WeddingWire and they came to meet us at the hotel as we were getting ready. We took some photos, and then all got into our truck for the drive.
The walk to the waterfall is something for the books! There are a few HUNDRED steps that you walk down in until you come to the most beautiful clearing of rocks and a gigantic waterfall.

Our ceremony was on a Friday afternoon, there were some people at the waterfall and a few tours going on. The onlookers were very generous and moved out of our way so we could have stunning photos without anyone else in the background. So if you want to plan a wedding in this location, pick a week day or off hours.
We took our shoes off and got into the waterfall. It was a bit chilly, but totally worth the experience and the photos.

There is a balcony that overlooks the waterfall that makes for great photos with a different view of the waterfall.

I think the best photos, and my most favorite part was at the end of our day. We got into the nitty gritty of the waterfall area.
